Case Studies & Clients

I work directly with founders who are largely working on their own or with just a handful of staff.  I have worked with a range of different organisations but can provide optimal support to businesses who sell products, services or subscriptions online. Here are some of my clients:

Crafty Fox Market

Crafty Fox Market supports emerging designer makers and artists to showcase and sell their work by hosting quality markets in a variety of brilliant venues across London. They have helped over 2000 designer makers to put their products in front of shoppers over the past decade.

For Crafty Fox Market, over a period of four years I provided regular weekly support as their freelance operations director. I managed the day-to-day running of the business and it’s online membership arm, freeing up the founder to focus on developing new avenues of income. I directly support Crafty’s founder in devising income targets, monthly and annual strategy and provide a sounding board for major decision making within the business. I now provide regular strategic support via accountability calls with the founder to keep the business moving forward.

"Cat is an absolute pleasure to work with - she's highly efficient, excellent at problem solving and has in-depth knowledge of the creative business world. I have no hesitation in recommending her to others."

Just A Card

Just A Card is a grassroots campaign on a mission to encourage people to support and buy from artists, makers, independent shops and small businesses. Every sale, even just a card, is vital to their prosperity and survival. Since 2015, Just A Card has been highlighting the value of shopping small to keep our towns, high streets, markets, events and online small business economy vibrant.

For Just A Card, I project managed the roll out of a new campaign website, writing all the copy and working with a brand designer and web designer to ensure the project was delivered to the founder’s satisfaction. In addition, I provide weekly support to the campaign on all operational and administrative tasks, as well as supporting the founder with strategic decisions and commercial performance.

“Cat is a joy to work with!  Her professionalism, enthusiasm, sensitivity and immediate grasp of concepts and ideas have made her invaluable to JUST A CARD.  It’s a pleasure to recommend her - she came highly recommended to us and we couldn’t be more delighted to pass this on.”

Billy Tannery

After discovering that not one goat hide left over from the UK food industry was being tanned here, Billy Tannery decided to do something to regenerate the leather industry in this country by making excellent use of a waste product. Tapping into local leather knowledge, the founders have built a pioneering microtannery and their sustainable, bark-tanned leather now completes the circle from food to leather, turning waste into worth through beautifully crafted products.

I support Billy Tannery on a daily basis by managing their customer service requirements and all incoming administration. I also provide sales analysis and commercial recommendations to optimise B2C income. I also create email newsletter copy and layout and approach press on behalf of the company.

Kate Kilmurray

Working from her home in California, Kate teaches handweaving as a form of meditation and also creates a range of beautiful weavings to bring depth and natural fibres into our homes. Her pieces are sold in over 100 stores across the world and she regularly features in press, showcasing the new weaving techniques she is helping to pioneer.

For Kate I provide regular support creating sales and pitch packs to promote her business to relevant publications and organisations across the USA. I also write copy for her website, product her bi-monthly email newsletters, write Instagram posts and help set up product pages on Shopify and wholesale platform Faire.

“Cat is the best! Her skills and support are invaluable. The growth of my business would not be happening without her help. Her work adds a polish and professionalism that makes all that I do shine. Thank you, Cat for your devotion and care.”

Learn Fox

Learn Fox is a boutique digital learning consultancy run. I assisted with the full migration of their website from Squarespace 7.0 to 7.1, creating new layouts, copy and edited articles. I liaised with a graphic designer to produce relevant assets for the new-look project and implement bespoke code changes to make the website truly specific to Learn Fox

I also provided ongoing support to the founder, advising on strategic and staffing changes, writing key pieces of internal communication and mediating meetings.

“Cat has helped me enormously and I’ve found her such a huge source of support during some challenging times within my business. She’s been pivotal in the launch of a new product and service, during a big website migration project as well as a sounding board and objective viewpoint on a few other smaller (but not insignificant) issues and challenges. She has a pragmatic and creative approach and her calm, professional and approachable demeanour make her a real pleasure to work with. As a one-woman band it’s so vital to build a supportive and flexible team that can flex with the needs of your business, and Cat has the skills and expertise to not only be part of this team but also help to identify and source other external help you may need. If you are considering engaging her Cat to work with you, do it! You won’t regret it!”

Sue Pryke

Sue is an internationally renowned ceramists and former judge on The Great British Pottery Throwdown. I support Sue and her studio with edits, updates and optimisations of their website, annual commercial performance reviews and marketing content planning.

I also regularly write email newsletters and advise on future e-commerce strategy developments.

“It’s a real pleasure working with Cat, I have complete trust in her ability to organise, schedule, analyse, edit and optimise for me, doing all the things she does best, and allowing me to do the same! This is Cat’s area of expertise, she can manage it skilfully in a fraction of the time that it would take me, which makes complete business sense. She works efficiently and calmly, even when I have a last minute brain wave she manages to find time give clarity to my idea, send out that last minute mail shot or weave her copy writing magic into a new product description. She’s a real asset!”
